A suicide attempt is a medical and psychological emergency. Whether it happens during the day or in the middle of the night, do not wait until the next morning to seek help.
If a suicide attempt has occurred:
1. Call 999 immediately.
If the person has taken an overdose, injured themselves, lost consciousness, has difficulty breathing, or used any potentially dangerous method, arrange emergency medical attention immediately.
2. Do not leave the person alone.
Stay with them, or arrange for a responsible adult to remain physically with them until emergency services take over.
3. Reduce immediate access to danger, if it is safe to do so.
Remove accessible medications, sharp objects, car keys, or other potentially dangerous items without putting yourself at risk.
4. Do not assume the crisis has passed because the person says, "I'm okay now."
A person should still receive appropriate medical and mental-health assessment following a suicide attempt.
5. After immediate medical safety has been addressed, further suicide-risk assessment and follow-up care are important.

Azon Allied Health & Educare is not a 24-hour emergency or crisis-response service. If there is an active suicide attempt, imminent danger, serious self-harm, or medical emergency, please contact 999 or proceed to the nearest Hospital Emergency Department immediately rather than waiting for an appointment or a reply from Azon.
After the immediate crisis has been stabilised, psychological assessment, intervention, and follow-up support can form part of the person's longer-term care.
Every suicide attempt should be taken seriously. Early action can save a life.
