Topic: “Safeguarding the Mental and Physical Wellbeing of Students and Teachers: Building a Harmonious Education System through Life Education”
This talk went beyond theoretical discussion, drawing on real-life experiences and psychological expertise to explore the following key areas:
- Understanding Students’ Internal Psychological Struggles
Adolescents often respond to internal stress with silence, resistance, or withdrawal. Ms. Lee guided teachers in identifying the non-verbal signals behind such behaviors and taught them how to reconnect with students through empathy and understanding. - Creating a Healthy, Supportive, and Self-Aware Dormitory Environment
She emphasized building trust through daily interactions and creating a safe atmosphere where students feel free to express themselves. Teachers and students alike are encouraged to co-create a culture of mutual support. - Assessing Student Conditions and Sources of Stress
Basic psychological assessment concepts were introduced to help teachers make initial evaluations of students’ emotional and behavioral changes—enabling them to respond or intervene promptly and appropriately. - Knowing When to Let Go and Refer to Professionals
Ms. Lee stressed that while dormitory teachers play a vital role in supporting students, it’s equally important to recognize limits. When students show signs of deterioration, emotional instability, or self-harm tendencies, timely referral to mental health professionals is a form of protection—not abandonment.
She remarked: “The foundation of mental health education is understanding, and understanding comes from continuous awareness and learning.”
This seminar not only enhanced the practical sensitivity of teachers present but also reignited reflection on the true essence of education—it is not merely about teaching, but about nurturing relationships and emotional support in everyday life.
We sincerely thank Dong Zong for the invitation and extend our deepest respect to all educators who silently safeguard our youth on the front lines. We remain committed to advancing mental health and life education in schools.
