In a world that is growing increasingly risky and unstable, despite academic performances, survival skills become one of the most important skills in the new era.

Survival skills help us in sustaining a good quality of life, in the aspects of psychological and physical health.

Key Activities

Self-care Skills is in Daily Living

It is not merely on executing daily chores but to gain confidence in the children’s abilities of planning and coordinating.


Basic Emergency & Rescue in Life

Unexpected events or emergencies may happen at any point of time. It is significant for children to learn some preventions or coping skills to deal with unexpected events, such as injuries, life or death situations, etc.


Quality and Value of a Survival

The art of cultivating well-mannered survivor with good traits that enabled them to endure their respective situations.


Simulated Survival Challenge

Children were assigned different missions at various difficulty levels, applying their surviving skills with limited resources available.


Activity Introduction

A one-day aLife Child Living Etiquette Programme – Survival was held on the 21st of December 2019.


『Journey of Survival』

Survival is not based merely on the hard skills that we learned in schools or tuitions, but more importantly, the soft skills that are developed through our experiences. Through dedication and being empathy while brainstorming in the team-working activities, such as daily chores, earning and managing their work income, etc., the children were able to cultivate independence, emotional and cognitive empathy, and problem solving skills.

S.P.E.A.R. : Whenever a difficult situation or challenge arises, the children have to first stop and plan on their action steps, execute it and assess if their solutions are effective.


Conclusion

As quoted by Benjamin Franklin, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” The experiences that they earned were what they have reaped from planning and executing the best plan. We hope that the children will continue to practice the values and lessons learned in their daily livings.
