Parents are categorized into three main categories on their view of the social network that are accepted, rejected or uncertain. Some parents think their children are well-behaved and allow them browsing social networking sites even though they are below 13-years-old. These parents mean to connect with their children through these social networking sites and participate in their life topics. However, parents who reject their children browsing social networking sites worrying these social network sites will bring negative influence, such as cyber bullying and negative thoughts. Whereas the third type of parents feel uncertain to let their children browsing social network.

Does age limit really help to go against children browsing social networking sites? Age measure is not a good way to stop children from browsing social networking sites. Children can always get help from other adults to sign up an account. What do you think children like to browse social network? Firstly, they wish to quench their thirst to explore. Secondly, they wish to know new friends. Thirdly, they wish to chat with family and friends as well as sharing their stuff.

Instead of using age measure to prevent, we shall educate children the methods to approach the social network safely in a mature manner. We may teach children to correctly distinguish proper information to look at and friends to know. Exploring social network sites with safety filters from the parents and technology to supervise the children would provide a safer environment for them.
